Homemade Items that Actually Work

Store bought products are full of crap that is added to the product to make it cheaper for the company to make, but it can be harmful to you and your family. As American's we rely on stores to provide us with  our every day needs.  Wouldn't it be great to create products you use everyday for a fraction of the price and actually know what is in it?! Well now you can. I have been making my own household products for about a year now and as I explore these new ways I have noticed that I look and feel better.

Body Wash:
Mix together and enjoy.
1/2 Cup Liquid Castille Soap
 (unscented)
1 1/2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil (melted)

10 drops Essential Oil of your choice*
*If you get a scented Castile Soap you don’t have to add Essential Oils.
Note: I noticed that towards the end of the bottle this mix got a little thick, so I just added a tiny bit of water and shook it and it was fine.
LinkBody Wash

Shampoo:
¼ c homemade coconut milk or canned coconut milk*
c baby shampoo of your choice
1 tsp vitamin E, olive or almond oil
10 to 20 drops of your choice of essential oils
Shake before use.
*Homemade Coconut milk recipe on the link
Note: This shampoo is especially great if you color your hair! Love it!
Note: I only make the coconut milk required of the shampoo because I don’t know what to do with the leftover. Let me know if  you find something to do with it!

Deodorant:
5-6 tablespoons coconut oil
1/8 cup arrowroot powder
1/8 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup baking soda
Several drops of bergamot oil [optional]
Note: This will seem weird at first because you have to apply it with your fingers but it works super well!

Shaving Cream:
Shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, rosemary oil, and peppermint oil are the ingredients you’ll need to make this natural shaving cream.
Note: This will look really thick but trust me, it works great! Softest legs ever after! Also good for men.

Bug Spray/Make-up/Make-up Brush Cleaner:
These are all really easy to make!
Note: For make-up, if you have darker skin use more cocoa powder.

Laundry Soap:
1 bar of soap (any kind you want)*
1 cup of Borax
1 cup of washing soda
a big pot ( that holds more than 2 gallons)
a grater
a funnel
a long spoon
2 empty gallon jugs/containers
*I use ½ a bar of unscented soap and then add some essential oils for scent. I only use half a bar of soap because it tends to get way too thick.

I have yet to find a good toothpaste recipe so let me know if you find one!

Have fun with these! Make a girls day out of it! It feels so great being self-suffient and it's fun to explore different essential oils for scents!  Let me know how it goes for you~and enjoy!!!

Mrs. Tiffany Rose

I'm Married!!!!

I have been Tiffany Rose for over a month now and I am loving it!

The boys started the trip with a road trip to the Grand Canyon.

It started well but then they decided to hike the entire canyon in one day. Jake and Mark made it all the way down and back on very little water and food and are lucky to be alive but they forever have a great adventure story to tell.

Long beach was so amazing! Lot's of time spent at the beach with my ocean; and Hannah and Tony we fabulous tour guides!

We went to Hollywood for a day and ate In-N-Out Burger way too many times :)

For our bachelor and bachelorette night we all went to Downtown Disney and ate at House of Blues. Then we split up and the girls and I went to the Tiki Bar and got these awesome drinks, then it was back to the beach house for some geocaching and drinks.

The next day was our wedding day!

Spent most of the day relaxing and preparing for the wedding.

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. Perfect weather, perfect location, perfect group of people to share the day with and the perfect man!

The next day we went to this beautiful beach Crystal Cove. Defiantly my favorite location!

Mark and I had a great honeymoon in SF and we had a wonderful time with some family up there!

I am sad to be back, but the married life is great! Making future plans to move and start our life in a place we love!

I love you Mark Rose!

Mommy Dearest Needs a Shrink

So if you have not heard by now my reception that was going to be held at my mother’s house has been canceled due to her, “not wanting anything to do with the wedding or reception.”  I’m sure you are wondering what on Earth would EVER make a mother not want to be a part of her daughter’s wedding! I honestly have no idea.

I merely brought up the idea of having a bridal shower one day and she completely flipped on me saying that I am selfish and I just want more and more (I wasn’t even asking her to pay for it).  She then went further to say that Mark’s parents should be helping and how she is upset that she is the only one paying for stuff.

Now, back story, Mark and I are eloping to California and didn’t even want a reception here in the first place but 8 months ago she gave me an ultimatum, either have a reception her (that SHE pays for) or she was going to fly out to Cali for our elopement (NO THANKS!)  So we went with the first option.  She decided that her entire deck, kitchen, laundry room, and other parts of her house HAD to be completely re-done; after all of this happened to her house, her budget for our reception was all “gone.”

So all in all, my mother is a crazy person.  She told me I was going to be taken off her life insurance and she dumped a bunch of crap in front of my apartment building (even childhood scrapbooks…).  I’m not sure what happened but I know she thinks I am selfish and that I am going to hell for living with Mark before marriage.  She also said that she is choosing God over me…..I do not believe that’s the way Christianity works but oh well).

I am considering myself officially orphaned and I know in a few years when she is all alone with no friends or family by her side she will try to get in touch with me again.  Too bad mother.  This was the last straw. You are dead to me.

In happier news we are moving into a beautiful little house with an awesome backyard and basement so we will be throwing a little reception here for a handful of our close friends.  Also, I have officially got our tickets and one of the places we will be staying in SF booked!!!!

California here we come!!!!

"This is an Adventure!"

It finally happened! Mark proposed! The happiest day in my life for sure!! Here is the story:

Noon-ish, June 14th, 2012

After a wonderful breakfast, some pretty roses and a cute love note, Mark and I were playing some Mario Kart, in our pajamas starting the day off right.  After a couple of races he looked at me in a way that said, "I love you more than life itself," and pulled out the ring!

My instant response was, "What is that?!" He asked me to marry him and I, after asking a couple times if this was real life, said YES.  I burst into tears three different times because I was so happy!  We told our family and friends then got dressed up to go out to eat and get gelato at our favorite place Gelato Mio.

I could not have asked for a more perfect proposal. Simple, intimate and at home with my love and our kitties!

Here is my ring! It is a puzzle ring, which means it can fall apart and I have no idea how to put it back together but we have a little clear plastic part that keeps it together.  My wedding ring will be from Simply Wooden Rings.  I do not believe in buying diamonds.  They are not rare and the diamond industry actually covers diamond mines with concrete just to keep them at their high price.  Destroying the environment for money is not my cup of tea, at all.

So…we are eloping!!! My mother has lost her mind and has not even congratulated us yet so we are on our own financially.  We are hoping to get married in a lighthouse in California! We want to rent a beach house in Long Beach for a week then go see everyone up north afterwards.

My maid of honors, yes I have three! Are Katee, Charity and Raychelle! And my very wonderful friend Hannah may as well hold the same title because she is so wonderfully going to help with the Cali side of things!! I could not have asked for better girls to go through this with me!

I am so excited and nervous and a little stressed but I know this whole year will be one of the best adventures we have together!!!

Sweet dreams are made of these!

Any tips for wedding planning?

Love you all!!
